2025 marks the tenth anniversary of Pedrali's Nolita collection, designed by CMP Design and launched at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2015. With its simple lines, transparency, and playful tone, Nolita has become a bestseller in Pedrali's catalogue. Inspired by Pedrali's early designs, it evokes the timeless charm of sunlit squares, focusing on comfort with minimal materials.
Nolita was created for porches, promenades and terraces: 'it is a chair that loves the open air', say the designers, 'designed to be stackable, practical and long-lasting'. As CMP Design affirms 'Nolita aspires to be a timeless object designed for everyone and where everyone can feel at ease, a presence that casts no shadows and acts as a backdrop for the convivial moments of our lives'.
Over the past 10 years, Nolita collection has further expanded to meet the needs of an increasingly broad audience, for both contract and residential outdoor spaces. Each item within the Nolita family is designed to offer maximum comfort and versatility: from chairs to armchairs, including lounge versions, paired with tables; from stools in two heights to the chaise longue; to a modular sofa system and an enveloping relaxing seat.
These recent evolutions of the collection respond to the desire for an even more informal outdoor space, thanks to the soft cushions with waterproof lining and removable outdoor fabric cover, that transform any environment into an oasis of wellbeing. After ten years, Nolita remains a contemporary and highly appreciated product, thanks to its cosmopolitan and friendly spirit.
From bistros and cafés to museums, hotels and luxury resorts, its presence spans from the most dynamic urban centers to the most exclusive beach resorts. An example is Les Ombres restaurant, where guests can enjoy haute cuisine with a view of the Eiffel Tower while sitting comfortably on the products from the collection. At Eataly in the Dubai Hills Mall, Nolita seatings provide a comfortable yet refined space. Similarly, in the outdoor spaces of L'Argine a Vencò, a Michelin-starred restaurant by Antonia Klugmann, Nolita chairs blend harmoniously with the ambience.
Further examples include Natu Restaurant in Athens, nestled in the beautiful garden of the Goulandris Museum of Natural History. At the luxury hotel North Santorini, Nolita chairs in the black shade furnish the terrace, offering a corner of comfort. At Stelle d'Italia hotel in Florence, Nolita armchairs add a touch of elegance and functionality. Nolita tables also find space at Villa Riviera resort, an oasis between Portofino and Cinque Terre.
Nolita has also found a place in educational and cultural institutions. It graces La Centrale bistro at the SDA Bocconi School of Management campus in Milan, a cutting-edge architectural landmark designed by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of studio SANAA. At the Copenhagen
Institute of Interaction Design (CIID) in Bergamo, Nolita sofas and tables create inviting lounge areas, while at Resa Bilbao in Spain, the collection encourages to spend time studying outdoors. In the outdoor spaces of POLI.Design in Milan, Nolita chairs and tables in vibrant yellow and terracotta hues complement the university building.
A prime example is the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, where art, nature, gastronomy, and architecture come together in "The PwC Gardens": in this setting, guests can relax thanks to the comfort of the Nolita collection. Within the evocative Pinacoteca di Brera, Nolita enlivens Caffè Fernanda's outdoor space, a setting rich in history and charm.
