Sixteen months after filing for bankruptcy, a major furniture retailer is making a comeback with fresh collections, store openings and a revamped website. Under new ownership, the company has spent the past year repaying debts, restoring customer trust and restructuring its business strategy.

Z Gallerie, acquired by Karat Home in January 2024 for $7.2 million, is introducing its first seasonal collection in two years, featuring 250 new products, including coffee tables, couches and lamps. It is also re-entering physical retail with a pop-up store planned in Texas and an outlet opening in California later this year. Additionally, the company is launching a loyalty programme, a wedding registry service and buy-now, pay-later options.
The relaunch comes amid industry challenges, including supply chain issues and evolving consumer preferences. Retail analyst Sudip Mazumder emphasised the need for a "more omnichannel strategy" and a "premium level of service" to stay competitive.
With a renewed focus on "luxury premium exclusiveness," a more user-friendly website and a commitment to strategic growth, Z Gallerie aims to regain its foothold in the high-end furniture market. General manager Jie Melchiors expressed optimism, stating, 'our commitment is to grow the brand and build trust with our customers.'
