American furniture store president charged in $96K fraud scheme

A Harrisburg office furniture business president has been charged with defrauding four companies out of more than $96,000. The payments were accepted between May and August 2024, but the ordered furniture was never delivered, prompting an investigation by Lower Allen Township Police.

Tracey Michelle Myers, the president of Harrisburg Office Furniture, admitted to using payments from new orders to fulfil older ones due to financial struggles. Authorities concluded she intentionally misled the businesses by accepting payments without the means to complete the orders. Myers faces five counts of deceptive or fraudulent business practices.

A warrant was issued for her arrest, but she turned herself in, leading to the cancellation of the warrant. Myers was released on her own recognisance following her arraignment on 10 February. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 28 February.
