The investment will fund an automated panel wrapping line designed to improve production capacity, enhance flexibility for new product development, and address previous issues with vinyl lamination. The new system is expected to be operational by October.
Olon Industries, which produces wood components for furniture and cabinets, announced the upgrade a month after confirming the closure of its primary manufacturing plant in Lexington, Kentucky. The shutdown resulted in the layoff of 53 workers. The Lexington plant, acquired in 2015 from Carolina Drawers, was the company's largest facility, spanning 220,000 square feet and specialising in wood drawer components.
Company president Sylvain Duchesne stated that the investment would 'not only improve production efficiency but also ensure we continue to deliver the highest quality products to our customers.'
