Reflecting on Lichtwoche Sauerland 2025

'The exhibitors presented solutions that combine functionality with design and focus on durability'

The anniversary edition of the Lichtwoche Sauerland has come to an end. Thousands of visitors spent a week immersed in the diverse world of lighting. Trade visitors and customers discovered the latest product innovations in a relaxed atmosphere. 'It's great to see how many customers have found their way back to the Sauerland. What is shown here will light up the apartments and houses of Europe tomorrow,' says a delighted Philipp Müller, spokesman for the event.

Individuality and diversity characterised numerous exhibitions. The collections ranged from high-quality products "Made in Germany" from precious metals or natural materials to playful individual pieces in a wide variety of shapes and trendy colours. There was also a wide range of products for price-conscious customers - stylish lighting does not have to be expensive to offer long-lasting quality. The focus was also on energy efficiency and interchangeability. 'The exhibitors presented solutions that combine functionality with design and focus on durability,' emphasised co-spokesperson Michael Kossmann.

Modular concepts that enable interchangeability and creative design freedom continued to gain in importance. In addition to decorative luminaires, technical lighting solutions were also in demand - from practical helpers for craftsmen and DIY enthusiasts to high-quality garden lighting.

Many manufacturers took the opportunity to further expand their brand presence. Supported by trendy colours and special materials such as unique glass or fabrics, many design pieces were on display. Mobile lighting remains a topic with a future: battery-powered luminaires were no longer only presented as table lamps, but also as flexible floor and wall lamps. 'The variety of mobile lighting solutions shows how strongly the market is geared towards the needs of consumers and how the added value of LEDs is progressing,' continued Kossmann. Despite economic challenges, optimism prevailed. 'Especially in difficult times, innovations, good design and well thought-out concepts are convincing. The positive response from visitors makes us confident for the coming season,' Müller and Kossmann explained together.

Artificial intelligence was also increasingly used - not so much in the products themselves, but in marketing, sales and operational processes.

A special highlight of the 20th anniversary of the Lichtwoche Sauerland was the green laser beam, which marked the Sauerland as the "Centre of Light" and was still visible 60 kilometers away. 'The response was overwhelming. We received numerous pictures and enthusiastic feedback - from Münsterland to the Ruhr region and Bergisches Land,' reports Dennis Köhler, initiator of the campaign. 'With this successful conclusion, we are now full of enthusiasm for planning the next Lichtwoche' he announced. The date has already been set: on March 1, 2026, the Sauerland will once again shine in the light of industry.
