Classen Group and i4F strengthen partnership with polypropylene flooring solutions

The Classen Group, a global innovator and manufacturer of floor and wall coverings, and i4F®, a provider of patents and technologies for the flooring industry, are further expanding their long-standing partnership. With the addition of Classen's polypropylene (PP) technologies, i4F becomes the exclusive licensor of this patented innovation to third-party manufacturers.

After an intensive development process, Classen selected i4F's drop-lock system for its PP-based floors. These are produced at its plant in Kaisersesch, Germany, with an annual production capacity of more than 20 million square metres. With this collaboration, i4F strengthens its cluster of sustainable board composition technologies and responds to the growing demand for eco-friendly flooring.

i4F drop-lock now standard with Classen PP flooring
After extensive testing, CLASSEN has decided to apply i4F's drop-lock technology to its CERAMIN (PP) products. This innovative locking system has already proven itself within the new materials category and perfectly meets the specific requirements of PP flooring. Through this integration, Classen offers its customers even better quality and reliability.

Meanwhile, Classen is working on further technological developments, including the optimisation of the production line from extrusion to finishing and profiling. This process will be supported by technical expertise and more details will be announced later this year.

Advantages of PP in flooring products
Polypropylene (PP) is a thermoplastic polymer with numerous advantages for flooring solutions. It is lightweight, water- and chemical-resistant and durable, while remaining flexible without breaking. In addition, PP is fully recyclable, making it an environmentally friendly choice.

Strengthened cooperation for a sustainable future
Céline Quervel, Managing Director Sales of Classen Group, commented, 'We are proud to further strengthen our long-standing partnership with i4F with these innovative PP products. Our PP solutions meet the growing demand for more sustainable flooring and offer an efficient production process that includes board manufacturing and digital surface treatments. With more than 12 years of experience in PP mass production, we know how to thoroughly test locking systems. i4F drop-lock not only passed all tests, but also far exceeded industry standards.'

John Rietveldt, CEO of i4F, added: 'Classen is a leader in the production of PP-based flooring. We are therefore honoured that Classen not only adopts our drop-lock technology, but also entrusts us with the exclusive licensing rights. This extension of our eight-year patent partnership underlines our shared vision of innovation and sustainability within the flooring industry.'
