Danish furniture manufacturer takes bold approach to expand in US market despite trade concerns

A Danish manufacturer, based in Hinnerup, is pursuing growth in the US market, aiming for a 30% increase in sales by 2027. The company, which has been present in the US for 20 years, plans to expand its dealer network from three to eight. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to boost sales despite ongoing trade tensions between the US and Europe, with the US threatening tariffs on European goods.

Rasmus Byriel, CEO and majority owner of Furnipart, expressed confidence in the company's US push, drawing parallels to the company's expansion into the UK market amid Brexit uncertainties. Byriel noted that despite challenges, Furnipart was well received in the UK, which led to double-digit growth in turnover. He also highlighted that the company is now less reliant on exports to Germany, a market currently facing difficulties.

In 2023, Furnipart acquired competitor Vonsild, which specialises in wooden handles and knobs. The company's financial performance has shown steady improvement, with an operating profit of DKK 7.6 million in 2023.
