An East Yorkshire-based cabinet manufacturer and retailer, increased its market share in a shrinking UK kitchen market in 2024. The company reported a 0.5% rise in revenue to £2.32 billion, despite a challenging environment for the sector.

Howdens attributed this growth to its expansion, with 29 new depots and 76 reformatted ones across the UK. The company now operates 869 customer-facing sites and plans to open another 20 depots and remodel 60 more in 2025.
However, profits fell by 2.1% to £249.3 million, a decline solely attributed to a higher tax charge during the period. Despite the difficult outlook for the kitchen market in 2025, Howdens remains focused on growth, particularly in its fitted bedroom range. The company now offers 19 bedroom ranges, with plans to add six more in 2025, expanding its offerings in various colour options.
Howdens anticipates the kitchen market will contract again in 2025 but aims to continue gaining market share and expanding its product range.
