Photo report Meble Polska:

'28% more visitors welcomed on the first day'

Last week, the furniture industry converged in Poznań, Poland's furniture hub. The event welcomed not only local suppliers and visitors but also professionals from around the world. Meble Polska serves as a key platform for the furniture sector and plays a crucial role in Poland's economy and international trade.

Exact visitor numbers for the entire trade fair are not yet known. However, organizer Grupa MTP has reported that the first day already saw a 28% increase in visitors compared to the opening day in 2024. In total, the organization expected between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors. Just like last year, more than half of them are expected to come from abroad.

Grand Prix
Gold Medals were presented on the first day of the Meble Polska trade fair during a ceremonial Awards Gala. The awards were handed over to the winners by, the chairwoman of the Gold Medal jury, Professor Ewa Ratajczak, and the President of the Grupa MTP Board of Directors, Tomasz Kobierski.

Gold statuettes went to 11 distinguished products, and the best solutions in the field of innovation and environmental activities were additionally awarded the title of Eco Prize and Grand Prix of the Grupa MTP.

Eco Prize awards
One of the products, previously awarded the Gold Medal, turned out to be the most innovative and ecological solution receiving a double distinction: Grand Prix and Eco Prize. The awards went to Thinking Cabinets Sp. z o.o. for its Thinking Cabinets box furniture system. This is a different solution that combines functionality, aesthetics and ease of use. This product was created for users who appreciate ease of assembly and high quality workmanship.

The components of the connector system are: a connector with the "CLICK" system, a pin for the body, a pin for the drawer guide, a pin and a latch for the installation of the back wall. Thanks to the use of modular components, the assembly of furniture does not require additional tools or specialized knowledge. All cabinet components are designed to fit together seamlessly for quick and easy assembly.

Largest stand
The exposition of the WERSAL Furniture Factory has been the largest stand at the Meble Polska Fair for several years now. The same is true this year. Among the furniture on display is this year's winner of the Gold Medal competition.

The Gold Medal was awarded by the jury to the model VELPA S. This is an innovative piece of furniture that combines modern design with functionality. With electric seat extension, it perfectly adapts to the individual needs of users. The rounded line of the furniture gives it an elegant look that will fit into various interior styles.

Tomasz Kobierski, President of event organizer Grupa MTP, highlighted that this year marked the 44th edition of the trade fair—an achievement that reflects its long history and success. "For the 15th time, we are organizing this event under the name Meble Polska, a trade fair that is central to the furniture industry in our region," said Kobierski.

He emphasized that Meble Polska is not just a key meeting point for industry professionals but also a vital hub for Polish furniture exports. "With 400 exhibitors and 20,000 visitors from various countries, Meble Polska proves itself as a significant player in the global market." He shared these insights in the new congress hall (Hall 7A), which he described as a symbol of progress and continuous development.

Jarosław Maciejewski, Vice-Governor of the Wielkopolska province, was also present at the event. He underscored the fair's importance for both the region and the country. "This is more than just a trade fair—it's an event that shines a spotlight on Poland's furniture industry. The furniture sector is one of the key pillars of our economy," said Maciejewski.

He further emphasized how the business conducted during the event contributes to Poland's economic growth. "This is a showcase of the furniture companies we have in Poland. We take great pride in the contribution this sector makes to our region and our country."

Jan Szynaka, President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce in the Furniture Industry, also spoke at the event. A seasoned industry veteran, Szynaka has closely followed the sector's developments over the years. "I have attended this fair for many years and have witnessed the evolution of the furniture industry firsthand. These days, we often hear about a so-called 'furniture crisis.' However, today's situation cannot be compared to past crises when the value of money truly collapsed," he noted.

In his view, the industry is undergoing a transformation rather than a crisis. He stressed the sector's significance for Poland's economy: "The wood and furniture industry accounts for 8% of Poland's GDP. We have some of the largest furniture companies in the country, and despite challenges, we remain proud of our achievements."
