IKEA plans new concept store in Hull

IKEA has submitted plans to open a new store in Hull, proposing a "Plan & Order Point" (POP) outlet at Kingston Retail Park. The new store would offer spaces for customers to meet with sales representatives and explore samples of materials, colours, and finishes. The primary service would allow customers to design their kitchens and/or bedrooms, pay for the chosen items, and have them delivered to their homes.

The planning application, which has been submitted to Hull City Council, specifically requests approval for three illuminated signs displaying the IKEA logo. No permission is needed for the change in store use. The closest full-scale IKEA store to Hull is located in Sheffield, with similar concept stores already established in Preston, Liverpool, and Stockport.

The council is currently reviewing the application, which highlights IKEA's effort to expand its retail offerings with a more localised, convenient service for customers in Hull.
