Restructuring specialists Julian Pitts and Richard Kenworthy of Begbies Traynor have been appointed to oversee the insolvency process, which involves approximately £440,000 in outstanding debt. More than half of this is owed to a former owner, with additional claims related to VAT, PAYE, and a bounceback loan.
Abitare, based in Wigan, was once a major UK retailer of European furniture brands such as Natuzzi and Calligaris. It began a clearance sale in mid-2024, signalling its planned closure.
