The collection of mirrors "Connessioni" by Labanto is a group of objects dedicated to the exploration of subtle encounters that take place in nature and give rise to surprising transformations and evolutions.
These mirrors bear witness to the profound dialogue between matter and life, capturing the moment when energy is transformed and takes shape. The works spring from the creative mind of Francesca Brinatti, founder of Labanto, an artistic workshop located in Turin and dedicated to the creation of mirrors interpreted with a complete mastery of the technique of ancient 18th century silvering. In Labanto's design philosophy it is not the ability to reflect that defines a mirror, but rather the material itself – liquid silver, oxidative minerals, and glass – which becomes the main focus.
The different subjects in the collection convey the bonds and connections that exist between bodies, physical and organic entities, and life: from branches, a symbol of development and growth, to roots, the emblem of anchorage and support, up to neurons, the functional entities of our nervous system. Every surface is a unique and unrepeatable work made by hand and carries a radical or neural filament "etched" within it, a live and vibrant image of the complex interaction between natural elements.
Each creation transcends the mere function of reflecting and invites us to recognise the changing material value of a mirror. Lines and textures emerge by controlling the oxidation processes of silver and give life to dreamlike landscapes – enigmatic yet spontaneous – which transport the observer into a poetic dimension where the boundaries between natural and artificial dissolve.
