Serax introduces new tableware collection by Sergio Herman

After two successful tableware collections, Sergio Herman and Serax felt they needed to heed the wind of change. The result of their endeavours is the new Silhouette collection.

The name emphasises the refined and bold contours of this Serax collection. The French word also has an elegant, almost poetic ring to it, evoking the lively, traditional brasseries from which Sergio drew inspiration. It is in this vibrant, laid-back ambience that food comes to life, and people are able to connect. Silhouette is inspired by the timeless beauty of nature. Clouds, flower petals and waves have been translated into flatware, cutlery and glassware with a contemporary look and feel. Silhouette reflects the cultural shift we have all felt for some time now: a move toward simplicity, authenticity and connection.

The Sergio Herman collections for Serax draw on the diverse local and international influences that have shaped his career as a world-class chef, restaurateur, and designer of spaces and objects. Herman is deeply connected to the province of Zeeland, where he began his career at the family-owned restaurant Oud Sluis in Sluis – a small town near the Belgian-Dutch border – transforming it into a culinary destination.

Under his creative direction, Oud Sluis achieved three Michelin stars and was named one of The World's 50 Best Restaurants for eight years. In 2013, he closed Oud Sluis to focus on new projects. Today, Sergio Herman is at the helm of the Sergio Herman Group, one of Europe's most creative restaurant groups.

His collections are beautiful and practical, informed by hands-on experience in his kitchens and the aesthetics and culinary experiences he has encountered over his thirty-year career.

Tableware
With his third collection for Serax, named Silhouette, Sergio Herman goes back to the essence with a collection of white porcelain plates that instantly remind you of the bustling, lively brasseries where people connect over good food in a warm ambience. The contours are inspired by the timeless beauty of natural phenomena such as clouds, petals and waves. By stripping away colour and using white only, Sergio has created a neutral, timeless foundation that allows users to bring their creativity to the table.

Glassware
Silhouette is Sergio Herman's third and latest collection for Serax. The name alludes to the highly refined contours of this tableware. Sergio strips the glasses down to their essence with pure, clean silhouettes that blend into the table setting rather than disrupt it. Their shapes are based on simple but elegant flowers. With this collection, Sergio Herman draws on the elemental beauty of nature.
