Swedish furniture retailer Ikea has lodged a planning application for a new store in Dundee, according to The Courier. The proposed location is at Kingsway West Retail Park, next to Tapi Carpets.

Few details have been disclosed in the application, but given the smaller size of the unit compared to Ikea's larger stores in Glasgow and Edinburgh, it may operate similarly to the order and collection point in Aberdeen. These stores typically offer a limited in-store selection, with most products available for order and collection. The Aberdeen branch also features a café, though it is unclear whether the Dundee site would have similar amenities.
Last year, Ikea introduced "collect near you" points at Tesco car parks in several Scottish locations, including Dundee, Ayr, Bellshill, and Inverness. At the time, the company suggested an "even greater local presence" in the future.
