LIGNA 2025, the world's leading trade fair for the woodworking and wood processing industry, is set to surpass expectations as it prepares for its 50th anniversary in Hanover this May. As of 7 March 2025, 1,337 exhibitors have registered for the event, surpassing the 1,288 exhibitors of the 2023 edition. This strong participation level, especially given the current economic climate, has been described as a clear sign of the industry's resilience and commitment.
'The LIGNA exhibitors treat themselves with a very strong participation this year for the 50th trade show anniversary,' says Stephanie Wagner, Head of LIGNA at Deutsche Messe. 'We have exceeded the level of the previous event, and the high level of exhibitor interest is truly overwhelming. We are confident that the product innovations and the strong motivation of all exhibitors will help drive the industry's turnaround at LIGNA while also positively influencing visitors' willingness to invest.'
In addition to the large number of exhibitors, LIGNA 2025 will introduce new formats designed to showcase innovation and sustainability. One such initiative is LIGNA.TruckStop, an outdoor display area where five companies from the skilled trades sector will showcase products ranging from power tools to fastening technologies via show trucks. This format includes brands like Festool, Hettich, Makita, SawStop, and Swiss Krono.
'At SawStop, safety and precision are at the core of everything we do. LIGNA.TruckStop provides a unique opportunity to showcase our industry-leading safety technology directly to skilled trades people,' says Daan ter Haar, Head of Marketing at SawStop Europe.
Another new feature at the fair is LIGNA.Circular, a collaborative initiative focused on sustainable innovation. It will present six themed islands, each highlighting different aspects of circular value creation, including sustainable wood-based materials and efficient wood usage. Dr. Andreas Schütte, Managing Director of the Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e.V., states: 'Our goal is to highlight current developments in the supply and use of wood, while also emphasising important research activities in the field of efficient wood usage within the framework of the circular economy.'
LIGNA 2025 will run from 26 to 30 May in Hanover, showcasing the entire spectrum of products and services for both the primary and secondary industries, including tools, machinery, surface technology, and energy from wood. The event will celebrate its 50th anniversary with an expected record turnout of exhibitors and attendees.
