Lee Longlands to close Derby store and open new location in Peterborough

Lee Longlands, a privately-owned furniture retailer, has announced the closure of its Derby store and the relocation of its operations in the East Midlands and East of England. The closure is due to the expiration of the lease on the former Co-op site in Derby. Greenwood Retail will assist with the store's shut down, as confirmed by Robert Lee, director and co-owner of the company.

All employees at the Derby location will be offered other roles within the company, which operates other branches in Birmingham, Kidderminster, Abingdon, Bristol, Leamington, and Cheltenham.

Lee Longlands is also expanding its presence in the East of England by opening a new store in Peterborough, having secured terms for a location at the Brotherhood Retail Park, formerly occupied by Dunelm. This move reflects the company's continued investment in strategically important areas, as part of its broader growth strategy.

The Derby store, which has been operating for the past ten years, will begin its closing sale in mid-March. Despite the closure, the company remains committed to its ongoing growth and infrastructure investments.
