Habitat furniture brand returns to stores after liquidation

Habitat, the furniture brand, is making an unexpected comeback after being liquidated in 2023. The brand, once operated by Thierry Le Guénic, was taken over by its former owner, Cafom, in April 2024. Habitat relaunched online in June 2024, and now, as of March 6, 2025, its products are available in physical stores.

Around 20 pieces from Habitat's range, including both classic items and new designs, are being sold in 24 stores of the Fabrique de Styles brand, part of the Cargo group. These stores are expected to expand their Habitat offering to 34 locations by mid-2025. Products available include chairs, tables from the Drio collection, and Posada and Montino sofas. 'Welcoming their furniture into our stores is a great opportunity to participate in the relaunch of this iconic brand,' says Candice Duchesne, head of the Fabrique de Styles offer.

Despite the physical store return, Habitat has no plans to reopen its own retail network. Instead, the brand aims to connect with customers who wish to see and touch the furniture in person. General Manager Sacha Vigna explains that the return to stores is about customer experience and maintaining a connection with its audience. The brand's goal is to reach €10 million in sales by 2025, a significant increase from the €63 million recorded in 2021.

Habitat's return to stores signals a major shift in the furniture market, blending digital and physical retail to reclaim its place.
