The Indonesian Furniture and Crafts Industry Association (HIMKI) is optimistic that the country's furniture exports will grow by 8 to 12 per cent in 2025. HIMKI Chairman Abdul Sobur stated that the export target for the furniture industry is US$2.1 billion, or around Rp34.21 trillion, with an additional target of US$800 million for handicraft products, totalling US$2.9 billion.

Abdul Sobur expressed confidence in the export potential despite current geopolitical tensions, such as the ongoing trade war between the United States and China. He noted that high import tariffs on Chinese products could benefit US demand, as the US is a significant market for Indonesia's furniture industry, with annual exports worth approximately US$250 million.
Although there are concerns about a potential 20 per cent tariff on Indonesian exports to the US, Abdul Sobur highlighted that no official confirmation has been given regarding the matter. He added, 'There is no clear answer yet, but the possibility of tariffs is being discussed.'
HIMKI remains optimistic that Indonesia can capitalise on the trade situation and maintain growth in the export of furniture and handicraft products throughout 2025.
