Whether it's the entryway or hallway, the entrance to a building is used frequently by all residents every day, and the furniture has to withstand a lot. Temperature fluctuations across the front door, sand and stones on shoes, or a multitude of heavy jackets, coats, or bags. Accordingly, the furniture in the entrance area should be particularly robust. 'Furniture made of solid wood is characterised by its high resistance and durability. It can easily withstand even heavy loads. Suitable solutions are offered by furniture manufacturer Voglauer from Salzburger Land, among others,' says Andreas Ruf, Managing Director of the Initiative Pro Massivholz (IPM).
Hallway or entryway furniture is usually the first thing visitors see when they enter a house or apartment. 'Clearly conceived wardrobe furniture from Voglauer exudes the flair of natural, designer-savvy solid wood furniture as soon as you enter a home, offering the perfect storage solution for every need and storage option,' says Peter Grünwald, Managing Director of Voglauer and a member of the IPM (International Planning Association). He adds: 'Since entrance areas are often small and simple, the solid wood furniture must be compact and functional, yet still exude warmth and cosiness.' A space-saving coat rack with individual wall hooks, for example, can be suitable for this. Spacious entrance areas can also accommodate a chest of drawers, a coat rack with seating, and a shoe cabinet.
In addition to the wide range of furniture, the durability of solid wood furniture is also important. Therefore, residents should pay close attention when selecting furniture. Solid wood furniture can easily withstand the heavy loads caused by wet clothing. 'Even fluctuations in indoor humidity caused by frequently opening the front door don't upset solid wood furniture,' confirms Grünwald. Wood is an open-pored material with a special cell structure. The wood easily absorbs any moisture and releases it again when it dries out.
Another advantage of solid wood furniture is its ease of care: Dust and dirt stirred up from outside can be easily wiped away with a damp cotton cloth – and on the floor, the vacuum cleaner takes care of the rest. 'Whether long and narrow or rectangular and wide, high-quality entryway furniture with storage space for accessories, shelves, and coat hooks is essential for keeping your home tidy,' Grünwald concludes.
