Ikea opens new planning and pick-up location in Colma

IKEA U.S. has announced the opening of its new Plan & Order Point with Pick-up in Colma, California, on 19 March 2025. The location, situated in the 280 Metro Centre, is the fourth IKEA site in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The new-format store is part of IKEA's growth strategy to improve accessibility and offer more ways for customers to shop. Unlike traditional IKEA stores, this site focuses on planning and ordering home furnishing solutions that require additional support, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and storage systems.

Javier Quiñones, CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer of IKEA U.S., stated that the new location 'highlights our efforts to bring IKEA closer to the many people and make it easier and more affordable to access our home furnishing products and solutions.'

Customers visiting IKEA Colma will not be able to take products home on the same day but can arrange for delivery or collect orders from the on-site Pick-up point. Online shoppers can also select this location for order collection at checkout.

Arda Akalin, Market Manager for IKEA San Francisco, said, 'I'm beyond excited to welcome customers at IKEA Colma where you can get expert home planning support right in your own neighbourhood.'

IKEA has been in the San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 25 years, with its first store opening in Emeryville in 2000. While the new location enhances convenience, customers seeking IKEA's signature food offerings, such as its meatballs, will need to visit IKEA San Francisco or IKEA Emeryville.
