BekaertDeslee, Resortecs, and TripleR.io are proud to announce the launch of ReCover, a pioneering two-year research initiative funded by VLAIO (Flemish Agency for Innovation & Entrepreneurship). This innovative project will revolutionise the circular economy in the textile and bed industry by developing innovative solutions in eco-design, disassembly and digital traceability.
A major step towards circular mattress production
The ReCover project is a collaborative effort aimed at designing a recyclable, multi-material mattress cover that maintains both high sleep quality and hygiene standards, while significantly improving recyclability. The initiative will integrate advanced solutions such as Smart Stitch™, Resortecs' thermally soluble sewing thread, Smart Disassembly™, and TripleR.io's digital product passport solution, ensuring efficient recycling and sustainable manufacturing practices.
Innovation for impact
- Eco-design innovations: development of mattress covers with BekaertDeslee that facilitate disassembly and textile-to-textile recycling, ensuring that each disassembled fraction has a viable recycling route.
- Disassembly and recycling: implementation of Resortecs' Smart Stitch™ and Smart Disassembly™, enabling automated and efficient material separation at the end of the product's life.
- Digital product passporting: implementation of a traceability solution via TripleR.io's cloud-based platform MattressID, enabling seamless identification and tracking of mattress covers throughout their lifecycle.
