Worktop supplier invests in factory expansion and sustainability

A leading fabricator and installer of high-volume low-silica worktops has announced a £300,000 investment to enhance its factory operations.

The company, Roann, based in Wakefield, has allocated the funds towards advanced machinery, including an edge polisher and a computer numerical control (CNC) saw. These upgrades aim to improve production capacity, quality, and efficiency in response to increasing client demand.

As part of its sustainability efforts, the business will soon upgrade its water filtration system. The new 800-litre system will create a closed water recycling loop, reducing fresh water consumption by approximately 90 per cent. Additional benefits include reduced dust, less sediment accumulation—eliminating factory shutdowns for maintenance—and decreased equipment wear and tear.

Founded over 30 years ago, the company has experienced consistent growth and is the UK's only dedicated supplier of worktops for high-rise residential projects and house builders. This latest investment supports its long-term expansion strategy, increasing kitchen worktop fabrication capacity from 15,000 to 25,000 units annually.

Scott Wharton, Operations and Technical Director, stated: 'This £300K investment allows us to not only increase our production capacity but also enhance the environmental sustainability of our operations. By integrating the latest technologies, we're able to continue to meet our clients' growing needs while minimising our impact on the planet and reinvesting in training our people, and our factory.'

The company, which supplies major clients such as Taylor Wimpey, Berkeley PLC, and David Wilson Homes, has also recently joined the Worktop Fabricators Federation (WFF), reinforcing its commitment to health and safety in the UK construction sector. Through its consumer-facing division, it also templates, manufactures, and installs worktops directly for homeowners across the UK.
