New furniture store to open in Aarhus as "My Home" closes

A new furniture store is set to open in Aarhus in August, replacing the former premises of a recently closed retailer. The store will be located at Bredskiftevej 4B, a strategic site with a frontage on Viborgvej, and will cover 1,400 square metres.

The new store is owned by Bobel, which already operates multiple furniture stores in Denmark. Owners Martin and Andrea Westenholz, along with Søren Bomholt, have long sought to expand into Aarhus, believing their brand aligns with customers seeking 'quality, service and professional advice'.

The store will be part of the Møblér chain, a network of independently owned furniture retailers, and will utilise Bobel's existing warehouse and logistics setup.

The move comes as My Home Møbler winds down operations, with all remaining stores set to close by 31 May 2025 due to significant financial losses. The retailer has struggled with nearly DKK 50 million in losses over the past two financial years. An initial plan to keep some locations open was ultimately abandoned, leading to the final closures.
