WERNS is an award-winning German design brand founded by designer David Voß and designer & architect Alexandra Gördes in 2021. The name WERNS is a tribute to David's father, Werner, whose business-to-business company, WERNER VOß, deeply inspired the two founders.
At WERNS, we believe in extraordinary pieces for extraordinary people. Our mission is to celebrate uniqueness and banish boredom from homes worldwide, because living spaces deserve more fun, color, and creativity. WERNS® stands at the intersection of life and art, always striving to inspire.

Fusion of cultures and aesthetics
The design philosophy behind WERNS is deeply rooted in the diverse experiences of its founders. 'Studying architecture and design in Germany laid a foundation in minimalism and Bauhaus aesthetics, focusing on clean lines, structure, and materials like concrete, a material known for its modern yet sometimes cold and generic feel,' they explain. However, their perspective expanded dramatically through international experiences.
'Working in Copenhagen for an innovative architecture firm refined our understanding of functional yet expressive spaces. But the most transformative experience came from working in a Ghanaian design studio, where projects across Africa sparked a deep appreciation for vibrant colours, rich patterns, and nature-inspired elements.' This cross-cultural fusion is what makes WERNS unique, resulting in a design language that balances structured precision with playful creativity.
Sustainability at the Core
WERNS is committed to sustainability in every aspect of its production process. 'For us, sustainability goes beyond just materials; it's about creating high-quality pieces that stand the test of time. We reject the idea of fast furniture and disposable décor,' they state.
Through collaborations with organisations like PETA and ONETREEPLANTED, WERNS ensures that its designs are both ethical and environmentally responsible. 'We use vegan and cruelty-free materials and strive to minimise waste. Our goal is to craft items that are not only aesthetically striking, but also contribute positively to the environment.'
Expanding horizons and future collaborations
Looking ahead, WERNS is focused on expanding its B2B presence and participating in leading design fairs such as Ambiente in Frankfurt, Maison&Objet in Paris, and Salone del Mobile in Milan. 'These events allow us to connect with renowned brands, artists, and industry leaders, paving the way for exciting collaborations—soon to be announced!' the brand teases.
Additionally, WERNS recently celebrated a milestone with its successful B2B debut at Ambiente 2025, exhibiting in the prestigious Hall 3. But the brand's ambitions don't stop there. 'We are currently planning a large-scale outdoor installation on the Canale Grande during Venice Design Week, running alongside the Venice Biennale. This project will bring our vision to life on an entirely new scale, merging design and art in one breathtaking experience.'
With a strong commitment to innovative design and sustainability, WERNS is not just creating furniture, it is shaping the future of interior spaces, one bold and thoughtful piece at a time.
