Successful debut for Munich Design Days and Munich Fabric Spring

The first edition of Munich Design Days and the 27th Munich Fabric Spring took place from 13 to 16 March, attracting over 5,000 visitors. The two independent but complementary events provided a platform for interior design and textile furnishing professionals.

Munich Design Days, held on Praterinsel, showcased over 30 national and international interior design brands. Aimed at architects, interior designers, hoteliers, and property developers, the curated event focused on fostering industry connections. Managing Director Malte Perlitz described the fair as 'a positive start to the new format for interior design,' emphasising the need for "smaller, more focused formats" that encourage direct engagement. Many exhibitors have already expressed interest in returning for 2026.

Munich Fabric Spring featured more than 50 international exhibitors, including textile editors, paint, wallpaper, and carpet manufacturers. The fair also offered an extensive supporting programme, including lectures and discussions. A key highlight was the design talk "Viewed by Light. How Atmosphere is Created in Interiors," held at the Occhio Experience Centre. The session, moderated by Dr. Oliver Herwig, brought together experts such as lighting specialist Helen Neumann, architect Fabian Freytag, textile designer Stefan Gabel, and designer Werner Aisslinger to discuss trends in interior design.

The fair also included "Meet the Experts," a workshop initiative to support young talent in the interior design sector, and "Guided Tours" led by industry professionals. Organiser Klaus Winkler highlighted the synergy between the two events, stating that they 'strengthened each other and complemented each other thematically.'

With strong participation from exhibitors and high visitor engagement, both events are expected to return, reinforcing their role in the European design and textile industries.
