A Ukrainian furniture supplier is increasing production automation in preparation for an €80M contract with an international retailer.
The company, Accord-Import, has invested over €1M in automation over the past two years and is constructing a €13M robotic factory in Khmelnytskyi. The new facility will double production capacity to 800,000 square metres of cabinet furniture per month while employing 140 people, 50% fewer than its existing factory.
Seven robotic stations have already been installed, with two more planned, each costing up to €115,000. These robots handle furniture assembly, packing, and pallet supply for shipping. The automation aims to meet growing international demand despite a labour shortage.
In 2024, the company shipped more than €32M worth of furniture to warehouses of the international retailer and is preparing to finalise a new €80M contract in May. Last year, 96% of its total production, valued at over €43M, was exported, with 70% of sales going to the retailer.
