A bed sheet originating from China has been refused entry at the UK border due to safety risks. The product, sold on Amazon under the brand "ConBlorr", features a cable and wall plug designed to provide a "grounding" effect, purportedly offering electrons from the earth to the body.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards identified the product as presenting a "high risk of electric shock" because the pins on the supplied travel adaptor plug do not meet regulatory requirements. Specifically, the pins were found to be too close to the periphery of the plug. This flaw poses a risk if users touch the live or neutral pins while plugging or unplugging the adaptor, potentially resulting in an electric shock.
Authorities concluded that the product failed to comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 and the Plugs & Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994. As a result, the import was rejected at the border.
