Department store to close after 120 years of trading

A department store in Ealing is set to close its doors after 120 years of operation due to rising costs and a challenging retail environment. The store, located on Uxbridge Road, has announced a closing down sale ahead of its final day of trading on 8 June 2025.

The retailer, Daniel, cited economic pressures as the main reason for the closure, stating that the decision was not taken lightly. The closure will affect five employees, while the company's online business and its flagship store in Windsor will continue to operate as usual.

A spokesperson for the retailer said: 'We're still going after 120 years and our store is still continuing trade in Windsor, it is the economic climate that is causing the problem.'

The company remains committed to maintaining its presence in Windsor, despite the difficulties faced by the Ealing branch. The closing down sale is expected to run until the final trading day.
