Danish furniture manufacturer receives injunction after workplace accident

A Danish furniture manufacturer has received an injunction from the Danish Working Environment Authority following a workplace accident at its production facility in Ringkøbing.

The incident occurred when one of Onecollection's employee's fingers became trapped by a glue roller during the filling process. Safety gates were open, and the machine was operating, allowing the worker's fingers to come too close to the rotating rollers. As a result, the worker sustained injuries to two fingers but was able to keep them and has since returned to work.

Bo Christensen, CEO of Onecollection, acknowledged the incident, stating that it occurred because 'the machine was not operated correctly and the safety procedure was bypassed.' He noted that the injured employee was experienced but admitted responsibility, expressing frustration about the incident and the subsequent order.

Following the accident, the authority has mandated that the glue roller can only be used once safety conditions are improved. Employees at the factory have also been instructed to strictly follow safety procedures.

Onecollection, which holds the rights to produce Finn Juhl's designer furniture, has seen a decline in financial performance recently, recording a profit of DKK 3 million in 2023 compared to DKK 14 million in 2022. Despite the challenges, the company remains committed to enhancing workplace safety and adhering to regulations.
