Viccarbe, a leading Valencian furniture company specialising in work environments and unique spaces, has fully furnished The Terminal Hub, a new technological innovation centre located in La Marina de Valencia. Opened in October 2024, this hub has become a dynamic workspace for more than 500 professionals and 32 tech companies.
The Terminal Hub, housed in the former Maritime Station of the Port of Valencia, spans 5,000 square metres and features over 700 pieces of designer furniture from Viccarbe. The centre is designed to foster creativity and collaboration, balancing aesthetics, comfort, and functionality within the building's brutalist architectural setting.
The project was developed through a collaboration between architect Ricardo Orts and interior designer Héctor Muñoz. They aimed to transform the vast 1980s concrete structure into a welcoming, functional space. 'The Terminal Hub aspires to be the home of innovation. That's why we wanted a contract furniture partner capable of blending home and office elements, with innovative design, high-quality materials, and lasting durability. Viccarbe was the perfect choice. Additionally, the building itself plays a major role in the space, so we needed contemporary, cosy, and functional furniture that would not compete with the surroundings but rather enhance them—to create a home within a large-scale concrete structure,' explains interior designer Héctor Muñoz.
The ground floor serves as a coworking area, accommodating up to 120 workstations and featuring flexible spaces for digital nomads, training rooms, an auditorium for around 100 people, and the Front restaurant. Viccarbe's furniture selection here includes Maarten operational tables, Trestle stools, and Sistema sofas, providing versatile and comfortable work and leisure spaces. Rotating Copa chairs on the auditorium stage offer ergonomic support.
The first floor houses the Valencia Chamber of Commerce VIP Club, private offices for 150 people, and a boardroom featuring a five-metre-long Burin table and rotating Copa chairs. Reflecting an airport VIP lounge aesthetic, the space combines work areas with comfortable seating, enhanced by walnut finishes and acoustic insulation. The design merges elegance with functionality, creating a professional yet welcoming atmosphere.
The second floor offers large coworking spaces with fixed workstations for up to 300 people, tailored for entrepreneurs and SMEs. Acoustic booths, custom-made Maarten tables, and symmetrical seating layouts encourage productivity and collaboration. The cafeteria features Season sofas and high-back Sistema armchairs, creating a conducive environment for both focused work and social interaction.
Reflecting on the project, Rubén Mateos, Viccarbe's design director, said: 'This was a special project for Viccarbe. We worked hand in hand with the designer throughout the process. We didn't just want to supply furniture but to facilitate their work and provide everything they might need. That's why we adapted our catalogue with operational and meeting tables up to five metres long and custom-made lockers. All Viccarbe departments were involved and aligned to ensure the project's successful completion.'
Viccarbe's involvement in The Terminal Hub underscores its commitment to creating environments that blend functionality with Mediterranean-inspired design. By collaborating with influential designers and employing sustainable practices, the company continues to establish itself as a global leader in high-quality, versatile furniture for workspaces and unique environments.
