Family business opens second flooring store in Stroud

A family-run carpet and flooring business has launched a new studio and showroom at the Five Valleys Shopping Centre in Stroud. The new location, situated near the King Street entrance, marks the business's second store, complementing their existing premises on Stonehouse High Street.

The business, SJR Carpets and Flooring, is owned by Paul and Charlene Phillips, who are joined by Paul's sister, Tina Phillips, and family friend, Christina Broadley. The business name "SJR" reflects the couple's three children: Sam, Jake, and Ruby. At the opening event, nine-year-old Jake performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

With over 20 years of experience in carpet and flooring installation, Paul expressed his enthusiasm for the expansion, noting the positive reception the new studio has already received. The store offers a wide range of floor coverings, including wood, carpet, and luxury vinyl tile (LVT), and stocks well-known brands such as Comar, Kingsmead Colonia, Furlong, Valley, Victoria, and Lewis Abbott.

Paul stated, 'We are really pleased to be expanding our business and opening here at Five Valleys, this is a great location for us in the heart of Stroud.'

Erica Malpass, Centre Manager at Five Valleys, welcomed the new addition, highlighting the importance of supporting local independent businesses and celebrating their growth within the community.
