Swedish designer unveils three-person bed for "social interactions"

Swedish designer Gustaf Westman, in collaboration with the dating app Feeld, has created a unique bed designed to accommodate at least three people. The concept challenges traditional bed structures by transforming a four-poster design into a retro, curvaceous piece intended to foster social interaction and shared experiences.

The bed features a looped metal frame with a distinctive bright blue half-moon-shaped mattress and a pale blue topper. One end of the bed includes a built-in TV and large speakers, housed within a blocky red mount. Additional features include five circular lamps and two mirrors set in yellow, green, and purple fixtures suspended above the mattress.

Westman stated that the bed is meant to encourage spending more time in bed with multiple people, transforming it from a private space to a social one. 'I've created a multifunctional environment that encourages spending more time in bed, with more people,' he said, highlighting the design's intention to challenge conventional ideas about bed use.

The collaboration with Feeld, a dating app celebrating diverse relationships and sexualities, aims to 'reimagine the possibilities of a traditional bed.' The design reflects a shift toward a more inclusive and open-minded approach to personal space.

Additional accessories designed by Westman for the bed include a bedside table called One Night Stand, a wine glass holder, and a "juice squeezer" shaped like a butt plug, reinforcing the playful and unconventional nature of the piece.

This project marks Westman's first foray into bed design, building on his reputation for colourful and bold furniture. The designer's previous works include wiggly mirrors and terrazzo-like tables made from recycled materials.
