The Austrian architecture studio LOVE Architecture and Urbanism has revitalised the offices of the financial company CMTA in Vienna, transforming a previously formal and conservative space into a dynamic, flexible environment that reflects the company's communicative and modern work style.
One of the key features of the redesigned 500 m² office is the inclusion of the Lena swings from Diabla, placed in one of the main areas to create an informal rest zone. These versatile swings not only offer a space for relaxation but also serve as a casual meeting area or waiting zone.
The Lena swing, designed by Frale Design, is characterised by its unique aesthetic, featuring a white polyethylene seat with a distinctive cross-stitch rope detail. LOVE Architecture and Urbanism opted for a vibrant red rope, enhancing the swing's modern yet playful character. 'It's a design that brings a perfect blend of tradition and modernity,' the studio noted.
Incorporating the swings into the office has injected a sense of energy and playfulness into the workspace, aligning with CMTA's dynamic team culture. The contrast between the striking swings and the existing mahogany wood storage wall, which was preserved for its value, adds a layer of visual interest to the space. 'It was too valuable to get rid of,' the studio said, highlighting the thoughtful integration of old and new elements.
Beyond the swings, the revamped office features flexible partitions created with light, neutral-toned curtains that can be drawn to divide spaces or left open to encourage communication. Additionally, hanging planters echo the floating quality of the Lena swings, contributing to a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere.
