French kitchen manufacturer enters receivership amid challenging market

A French kitchen manufacturer has been placed under court protection, with the commercial court of Poitiers ordering receivership on 1 April 2025. The decision aims to ensure business continuity and support a recovery and transformation plan, according to a statement released on 3 April.

Cuisines Design Industries (CDI), known for designing and manufacturing custom kitchens labelled "Origine France Garantie", distributes its products through two exclusive dealer networks. The company cited the difficult economic climate as the primary reason for the move, highlighting a decline in the French furniture market, reduced consumer spending, and a significant drop in real estate transactions.

Dante Giacomelli, president of CDI, acknowledged that the decision was "difficult but necessary" to secure the company's future. He expressed confidence in the company's resilience, citing its strengths and stakeholder support as key factors for recovery.

The receivership process will not disrupt CDI's ongoing operations, and the distribution networks will continue to function as usual to meet customer demands. The company remains committed to maintaining its service levels while implementing strategic changes.
