Westwing’s sustainability progress in 2024

Westwing, continues to advance its sustainability efforts with great achievements in 2024. Through its WE CARE strategy centred around Products, Planet, and People - Westwing remains committed to integrating sustainability into all aspects of its business.

Key sustainability achievements in 2024

WE CARE for Products:

  • Responsible Material Sourcing: Over 85% of wood, cotton, and animal by-product materials in the Westwing Collection now sourced responsibly.
  • Packaging Improvements: 30% reduction in single-use plastic components in its packaging compared to 2023, 100% packaging waste recovered, reused, or recycled in the logistics centre

WE CARE for the Planet:

  • Climate Commitment: 64% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to 2022, 81% of suppliers engaged in setting Science-based Targets (SBTs).
    WE CARE for People
  • Product Innovation: Launch of the 3D-printed Keani lamp (85% recycled materials), awarded Silver in the Eco/Green Design category at the International Design Awards.
  • Supplier Engagement: 86% of suppliers audited for environmental topics, 98% for social topics, and 87% of key suppliers trained on sustainability.
  • Employee Initiatives: 87% employee satisfaction rate maintained, expanded mental health initiatives, and leadership training programs.
  • Customer Awareness: Increased WE CARE products in the Westwing Collection from 48% to 66%.

The 2024 Sustainability Report outlines Westwing's approach and progress toward its sustainability goals transparently. It reflects the company's ongoing efforts to contribute to a more sustainable future while delivering inspiring Home & Living experiences.

Looking ahead
Westwing remains focused on advancing its sustainability goals. Selected key targets include.

  • Reducing the amount of plastic packaging per item shipped by 40%
  • Achieving 80% of suppliers by spend with Science-based Targets (SBTs)
  • Establishing environmental and social management systems for 50% of Westwing
  • Collection suppliers
  • Maintaining an employee satisfaction rate above 80%
