Pierre Renart and Lison de Caunes present new timeless furniture collection

Maison Parisienne is proud to unveil an exclusive new furniture collection, born from the collaboration between celebrated woodworker Pierre Renart and master straw marquetry artisan Lison de Caunes. The collection features four beautifully crafted pieces that marry Renart's fluid wooden designs with de Caunes' delicate straw work. This collection includes a coffee table, mirror, and two consoles, with one being wall-mounted.

The collaboration showcases a striking balance between the two distinct materials—wood and straw. Renart's signature organic, flowing wood designs blend seamlessly with de Caunes' refined straw marquetry, enhancing the tactile and visual appeal of each piece. 'The straw matches the roundness and lightness of the undulating wood furniture, enhancing the matte walnut finish with a delicate sheen,' said a spokesperson for Maison Parisienne. The Möbius console exemplifies this harmony, with a red trim unfolding like an infinite line around its contour, while the Wave coffee table and Wave wall console feature straight-line straw marquetry in aged gold tones, contrasting the rich chocolate wood.

Completing the collection is the Perspective mirror, adorned with a radiant sunburst motif. Each piece in this collection is entirely handmade, with the option for customisation in terms of dimensions, wood types, and straw shades, allowing for a truly personal creation.

Pierre Renart's work is renowned for its elegant and sculptural quality, using innovative techniques like laminated wood to create a delicate balance between rigidity and flexibility. 'I continuously experiment with transformation techniques, building an extraordinary repertoire of forms while maintaining a commitment to functionality,' Renart shared. His work has been exhibited globally and is part of prestigious collections, including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. His ongoing collaboration with Longchamp will be expanded with a new collection of wood and leather chairs at Milan Design Week 2025.

Lison de Caunes, a Maître d'Art since 1996, is known for reviving the art of straw marquetry, a technique used by her grandfather, the renowned decorator André Groult, in the 1920s. Her work breathes new life into this artisanal craft, making it relevant in the modern design world. De Caunes' pieces often blend colour and texture, as seen in this collaboration, where the contrast of straw with wood adds depth and intrigue. 'The art of straw marquetry allows me to explore and transform materials into modern masterpieces,' de Caunes said. Her creations have graced prominent interior spaces and collaborations with top designers and luxury brands.

The collaboration between Renart and de Caunes celebrates the intersection of timeless craftsmanship and artistic innovation. These extraordinary pieces highlight the mastery of both artisans, blending organic, sculptural wood forms with intricate, luminous straw accents. As the collection is unveiled, it represents a fusion of two of France's most esteemed artisans, bringing both their histories and contemporary influences together in a collection for collectors and connoisseurs of fine art furniture.

The full collection is now available exclusively through Maison Parisienne.
