The Furniture Component Expo 2025, hosted by the British Furniture Association (BFA), took place on 19–20 March at the Telford International Centre, bringing together over 70 exhibitors and hundreds of delegates for two days of innovation, insight, and industry connection. Now in its second year, the event built on its successful 2024 debut and delivered a broader scope, a strong seminar programme, and expanded networking opportunities for manufacturers across the supply chain.
Positioned as a comprehensive destination for the furniture manufacturing sector, the expo presented cutting-edge products, from machinery and components to fabrics, software, and timber, and created a vital space for face-to-face engagement.
Visitors widely praised the event's value in facilitating real-world connections and purchasing decisions. Sarah Osborn of Sarah Osborn Upholstery shared: 'As a result of meeting a sewing machine supplier I have now purchased a machine from them, which I wouldn't have done were it not for the show.' Kingcome Sofas noted: 'Seeing examples in person really is quite valuable,' while Craftwork Upholstery added: 'Got a few new suppliers at better prices.'
Exhibitors also reported strong engagement. Ben and Paul Falkingham of PCD Tooling Solutions stated: 'We have made some good contacts and hope to develop some good business relationships and we have pencilled in the calendar for next year.' Dean Bradley, Sales Director at Glazpart Ltd, described it as 'the event to be at if you are involved in the design and manufacture of furniture in the UK.' Chris Green from Plasfoils praised its breadth: 'A very good show covering all aspects of the furniture industry rather than focusing on one specific area. We look forward to reattending next year.'
Seminars were a core feature of the Expo, tackling topics from EU regulations and ESG strategy to intellectual property protection and manufacturing health guidance.
Highlights included:
- "Unravelling EU Policy & Regulations" – offering clarity on sustainable design, labelling, and digital passports.
- "Made Smarter" – presented by Will Kinghorn, focused on how tech can solve five key industry challenges.
- "Future Trends in ESG" – explored profitability through sustainable operations.
- "Intellectual Property Protection" – delivered practical legal guidance for manufacturers.
The Expo also featured a live recording of the "Sit On This!" podcast with Vicky Grubb and Ray Clarke, discussing upholstery trends and modern production challenges.
Notable product debuts included PeakPocket™, a recyclable sprung cushion from Peak Converters; flame-retardant velvet from Erdem Fabrics; and Spinks' 100th patented coil design, furthering comfort in bedding and seating.
The event concluded with the Future of Furniture Awards, recognising sustainability and educational initiatives. Judges included Amanda Moore (Achieve & Partners) and Tom Malkin (Planet Mark).
Phil Spademan, BFA Managing Director, commented: 'Once again, FCE was all about backing the British furniture industry. Comments from delegates and exhibitors have been extremely positive.'
Furniture Component Expo 2026 is confirmed for 11–12 March at Telford, promising another landmark gathering for innovation in UK furniture manufacturing.
