Austrian furniture manufacturer Wittmann presents its latest designs at Fuorisalone 2025 under a refreshed brand identity: Wittmann – Cultivating Comfort. The presentation is housed in the Spazio Maria Calderara, a restored former foundry between Porta Venezia and Piazza della Repubblica, chosen deliberately to create an "inspiring atmosphere" and offer 'a more personalised experience of the Wittmann brand.'
KOLINAS Sofas and Armchair | Jaime Hayon.
Preserving its original industrial character, the venue, restored by Berselli Cassina Associati and Maria Calderara in 2000, features cast-iron columns, lofted ceilings, and quiet charm nestled among historic Milanese residences. Visitors are welcomed into a serene courtyard setting that reflects the brand's blend of tradition and innovation.
The exhibition features new collections by Jaime Hayon, Sebastian Herkner, and Federica Biasi, alongside classic Wittmann icons that showcase its heritage in master craftsmanship and design.
Jaime Hayon: Emotional design and sensual forms
Jaime Hayon introduces three pieces, each embodying his playful yet refined aesthetic.
- KOLINAS: A reinterpretation of the classic sofa, KOLINAS features rounded, plush forms in sofa and armchair options. 'The design of the KOLINAS sofas and armchair fully reflects my design philosophy – craftsmanship that tells a story. Inspired by the Austrian mountains, these pieces offer a feeling of generous comfort,' says Hayon.
- TUYA: A relax chair defined by 'timeless elegance, ergonomic functionality and outstanding comfort.' Hayon adds, 'Design should evoke emotions and curiosity while maintaining a deep connection to craftsmanship and tradition.'
- DD Table (Glass): Now available with a glass top, this iteration enhances visual lightness while showcasing the meticulously crafted leather-covered lower level.
Sebastian Herkner: versatility and craft
Sebastian Herkner presents the BELETAGE collection—modular sofas with harmonious proportions and a distinctive metal frame. 'Together with Wittmann, we create true interior treasures meant to be appreciated for generations to come,' Herkner states. The elements can be reconfigured in numerous ways, offering both architectural presence and comfort.
Federica Biasi: minimalism with character
Federica Biasi draws on the form of an Asian bao bun to create the BUN collection, now expanded to include the BUN Bed and BUN Petit Armchair. She says, 'Wittmann's expertise in handcrafted upholstery, combined with a commitment to precision and durability, creates the perfect foundation for transforming creative ideas into long-lasting pieces.'
ATRIUM sofa: a seventies classic reimagined
Finally, Wittmann revisits its ATRIUM design from 1971, now updated with a sofa option and expanded modular components. \Designed in the 1970s as a modular living ensemble based on cubic forms, ATRIUM is also a perfect stylistic fit for the feel-good concepts of the 21st century,' remarks Alice Wittmann, Head of Product and Design.
The 2025 collection underscores Wittmann's enduring dedication to comfort, quality, and meaningful design. Interviews with designers and the Wittmann leadership team are available upon request.
