Historic bathroom manufacturer finds new home in industry acquisition

A major UK-based bathroom manufacturer has been acquired in a move that marks the ninth British acquisition for a growing supplier group. The deal sees the business, known for its heritage and hand-finished products, continue operations under its existing leadership.

Carron Bathrooms, based in Falkirk and with a history dating back to 1759, has been acquired by Brand K Group from long-term shareholders John Hewitt and David McMorrine. The existing senior management team—managing director James McMorrine, operations and finance director Jane Miller, and technical director Gavin White—will remain in place. David McMorrine will also continue to support the company as a board consultant.

The acquisition includes a strategic partnership with Kartell UK, the distribution arm of Brand K Group, which will now serve as Carron's main logistics partner, offering next-day delivery across the UK.

Brand K Group, founded in 2008 by CEO Alex Norford, is based in Bedford and now employs more than 750 people. With an annual turnover exceeding £170 million, the group includes several UK manufacturing brands and recently expanded operations to China and Spain.

Norford said the addition of Carron Bathrooms strengthens the group's ambition to become a market leader in the UK and Europe. 'Carron has an exceptional reputation within the UK industry,' he stated, adding that the acquisition enhances Brand K's "one-stop solution across bathrooms and radiators".

David McMorrine expressed confidence in the new ownership, saying he and co-owner John Hewitt were pleased to pass the business to a group that shares their values. 'We are very optimistic for the future of the business with the support of Alex and the Brand K team,' he said.

The deal follows recent acquisitions including Aqualux, Just Trays, and Paladin Radiators.
