The garden furniture market has faced another challenging year, with falling domestic demand outweighing gains in overseas trade.

Norfolk Leisure Lifestyle, a leading UK supplier to garden centres and online retailers, reported an 11.7% decline in turnover to £18m for the year ended 30 November 2024, down from £20.4m in 2023. UK sales dropped sharply from £19.3m to £14.7m, while EU revenues surged by 229% to £3.3m, reflecting efforts to strengthen the company's international reach.
Profitability also weakened, with pre-tax profit falling to £160,000 from £1.9m the previous year. Adjusted EBITDA declined to £560,000 compared with £2.5m in 2023, highlighting the financial strain caused by reduced domestic orders.
Despite the downturn, the strong growth in EU markets suggests that international expansion may provide opportunities for recovery in the coming years. However, with UK consumer spending still subdued, the company faces ongoing challenges in balancing rising costs with softer demand in its core market.
