Amazon boosts frontline pay above inflation across UK

Amazon has announced an above inflation pay rise for its UK frontline operations staff, with minimum starting wages increasing by up to 5.9% to £14.30 per hour, depending on location. Annual salaries for these employees will now start at £29,744, rising to £31,824 in some areas, with the changes taking effect from 28 September 2025.

The company highlighted that minimum starting pay has increased by 80p per hour over the past year and by 43% since 2022. Amazon UK country manager John Boumphrey stated that "our UK frontline employees are essential to our success, which is why we're proud to increase our minimum starting wage to £29,744 a year." He added that the company offers "industry-leading benefits from day one and meaningful career development opportunities for all our employees."

Earlier this year, Amazon revealed plans to create more than 1,000 new apprenticeships across the UK, providing opportunities across multiple business divisions including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Prime Video, and Amazon Devices and Services.

The pay increase reflects Amazon's continued investment in its workforce, aiming to attract and retain staff amid rising living costs and heightened competition in the retail sector.
