Bedroom trends designers say will disappear in 2026

As 2025 draws to a close, interior designers are predicting which bedroom looks will not carry over into the new year. Overall, the focus is shifting toward warmer, more personal and restorative spaces, moving away from styles that feel overdone or impersonal.

Susan Hill of Susan Hill Interior Design believes ornate, architecturally complex beds are on the way out, describing them as styles that "date a room very quickly". Instead, she suggests simpler, versatile designs.

Rebecca Amir of Rebecca Amir Design sees maximalist bedding fading, with layered, decorative pillows giving way to streamlined setups such as textured coverlets. She also notes that pandemic-era hybrid bedrooms, doubling as workspaces, are being abandoned in favour of "sacred relaxation spaces".

Monochromatic grey, white, and beige bedrooms are also losing popularity. Marlaina Teich of Marlaina Teich Designs says these palettes may look "clean" but often feel flat, while Hill adds they lack the texture and colour layering needed for interest.

Designers further agree that matching furniture sets and ultra-trendy accents like bouclé, farmhouse details, and floral-heavy patterns will disappear. Teich explains that mixing vintage and modern pieces creates a more authentic, collected feel, while avoiding overwhelming trend-driven aesthetics.
