Fritz Hansen unveils Solae: a new portable light by Cecilie Manz

Danish design brand Fritz Hansen has unveiled Solae, a new portable lamp designed by the renowned Cecilie Manz. Blending functional versatility with sculptural beauty, the lamp delivers both powerful illumination and atmospheric warmth, moving seamlessly from workspace to leisure setting, indoors or outdoors.

Geometry in motion
Solae's design is defined by a striking geometric silhouette: an oval base paired with a circular disc top. This interplay of forms creates a harmonious balance, while also giving the lamp its instantly recognisable identity. The base is subtly directional, allowing the lamp to be repositioned with ease. Whether casting focused light over a desk or providing a soft glow for evening gatherings, Solae adapts intuitively to its surroundings.

Designed to be portable, Solae operates on a rechargeable battery and is free from cables, enhancing its flexibility. This mobility ensures that the lamp can accompany users across different rooms or even outdoors, shaping the mood of any environment with effortless elegance.

Atmospheric versatility
One of Solae's most compelling qualities is its ability to shift between glare-free task lighting and warm, ambient illumination. This dual capability underscores Manz's thoughtful approach to everyday objects, where functionality and emotional resonance coexist. With a single piece, users can transition seamlessly from productivity to relaxation, making Solae an ideal companion for modern living.

A designer of international acclaim
Cecilie Manz is celebrated as one of Denmark's leading contemporary designers, recognised for her refined aesthetic and devotion to practical beauty. Her portfolio spans furniture, lighting, and objects, each piece distinguished by a tactile sensibility and a focus on improving daily rituals. With Solae, she continues her exploration of how design can quietly but powerfully enhance human experience.

Part of Fritz Hansen's Autumn 2025 collection
Solae is a highlight of Fritz Hansen's Autumn 2025 Collection, launched globally earlier this month. Alongside new releases by designers Michael Anastassiades and Sebastian Herkner, as well as reimagined classics from the company's storied archive, the collection underscores Fritz Hansen's commitment to innovation while honouring its Danish design heritage.

By combining geometry, mobility, and a human-centred approach, Solae reflects both Fritz Hansen's design ethos and Cecilie Manz's enduring influence. More than a light, it is a portable atmosphere, an object that shapes spaces and moods with subtle sophistication.
