'We are not just one big factory. We are carpenters,' says Steen Albeck Tokkesdal, Sales Manager at Kristensen & Kristensen. It is a statement that captures the Danish manufacturer's entire philosophy. For over three decades, the company has blended craftsmanship and flexibility, creating timeless wooden furniture designed to last. Sustainability is at the heart of this approach, every piece is made with responsibly sourced wood and a commitment to durable, long-lasting design.
Based in Denmark with production in Lithuania, Kristensen & Kristensen has grown steadily from a small team of artisans to a thriving company with more than 270 employees. Yet despite its scale, Steen insists the company has never lost its personal touch. 'Even though we are becoming a bigger company, it's important for us to have a hand in everything,' he explains. 'We know what keeps our customers busy, and that keeps us close to our partners.'

Debuting in Brussels
This November, the company takes an important step as it prepares for its first appearance at the Brussels Furniture Fair. For Steen, the decision to join the fair symbolises both ambition and strategy. 'It's our debut in Brussels, and we are very excited,' he says. 'We want to become a bigger part of the Benelux region and reach new customers.'
The fair marks a key moment in Kristensen & Kristensen's continued expansion across Europe, particularly as the brand strengthens its presence in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. 'We strongly believe there are opportunities for us in these markets,' Steen explains. 'Our designs are Scandinavian, but they fit beautifully with the taste and aesthetics of the Benelux region.'

Versatility with a vision
Visitors to the Brussels stand can expect a broad and varied presentation of the company's craftsmanship. Steen describes it as a showcase of possibilities: 'We are coming with a wide part of our range, showing that we are not tied to one design line. We can do so many things with wood, different sizes, shapes, and finishes,' Steen explains. 'Customisation is a cornerstone of our work, many of our pieces can be made in special sizes or tailored to individual preferences, giving customers the freedom to create furniture that truly fits their space.'
Around sixty per cent of the pieces on display will be new introductions from the past year, all tested successfully in other European markets. Among them will be the celebrated Amelia range, winner of Danish Design Awards in 2023 and 2024. The collection features elegant round tables with four extension leaves, a detail that resonates strongly with the brand's philosophy of functional design. 'Round tables are selling extremely well right now,' says Steen. 'They feel soft, inviting, something you want to touch and experience.'

Designing for dialogue
For Kristensen & Kristensen, fairs are more than product showcases; they are opportunities to learn and listen. 'When you enter a new market, you think you know what will sell,' Steen reflects. 'But the real value of the fair is the feedback. We bring our designer with us all week because it's important to listen to what people say, see how they react, and understand what they need.'
This year, the company also presents itself with a new agent team in the Benelux, signalling a refreshed commercial focus. 'We are ready with a new team that knows the market,' Steen adds. 'We want to make an impression, with our design, our quality, and our possibilities.' That openness to dialogue extends to their production, where flexibility and sustainable craftsmanship allow them to meet a wide range of customer needs without compromising quality or responsibility.

Kristensen & Kristensen's approach to Brussels is clear: confident yet humble, grounded in craftsmanship but eager for growth. 'If visitors take away just one feeling from our stand, it should be that they are impressed,' says Steen. 'Impressed by our work, by the quality, and by what we can do together.'
