Indonesia's sustainable furniture and design sector has made a strong impression in Europe, recording potential transactions worth around US$575,000 at the Maison & Objet (M&O) 2025 exhibition in Paris. The achievement reflects growing international recognition of Indonesian craftsmanship and design quality, according to Indonesian Trade Attaché in Paris, Harry Putranto.

The figure includes furniture orders, distribution contracts for decorative accessories, and plans for expansion into Europe's exclusive souvenir and museum markets. "This enthusiasm reflects the European market's strong interest in Indonesian design and furniture products while strengthening our position as a key player in the eco-friendly design industry," Putranto said.
Three Indonesian exhibitors showcased a diverse range of products, from fossilized wood coffee tables and bronze-plated washbasins to modern furniture with local design elements and high-end reproduction souvenirs. The Paris event also offered valuable opportunities to build business networks for premium Indonesian goods.
Putranto reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting creative entrepreneurs and sustainable producers in expanding their global reach. "We will continue promoting our products through trade exploration, contract development, and international publications to strengthen Indonesia's position as a world-class supplier of interior and decorative goods," he stated.
Between January and July 2025, Indonesia's furniture exports to France reached US$61.14 million, marking a 1.16% increase from the same period last year. The steady growth highlights the rising recognition of Indonesian furniture across Europe, underscoring the sector's expanding potential in the global market.
