Ilva closes Odense store as part of major digital strategy

Furniture chain Ilva is set to close its Tagtækkervej store in Odense, with the final day of trading on Sunday, 2 November, and is offering a moving sale until then. The closure follows reduced customer traffic in the area, prompting more shoppers to visit the chain's Risingvej location.

Ilva plans to downsize the Risingvej store from 5,600 square metres to 2,750 square metres, alongside 1,300 square metres of outlet space. The changes form part of a strategic restructuring, which also includes a stronger focus on online sales to make more of the range digitally available.

The Lars Larsen Group, which owns Ilva, reported a pre-tax deficit of 46.4 million kroner in 2024, prompting the so-called "diet" initiative. While a new Odense store may be considered in the long term, this will depend on finding a suitable location.

Rasmus Boserup, Head of Communications at Lars Larsen Group, confirmed that employees at Tagtækkervej have been kept informed throughout the process, and the group is seeking internal solutions to retain staff within the organisation.
